Ask each teammate to propose one quarterly skill sprint backed by learning credits, a small block on the calendar, and a clear metric they will improve. The pitch is simple: “Here’s the capability I’m building, here’s when I’ll study, here’s the before number, and here’s the after number we’re aiming for.”
 
Approve those plans quickly and make space during business hours, because capability is an output multiplier and should be treated like one.

Weeks one and two are learn—core material plus a short shadow session with your best operator.
 
Weeks three and four are apply—pilot the new approach in a controlled slice of work and measure the effect.
 
Weeks five and six are document—update the relevant standard and build a checklist or template that turns the change into habit.
 
Week seven is teach—share the improvement with the team in a short session that forces clarity and spreads the gain.


Fold progress into your weekly operating review. When someone moves a number, highlight the before-and-after, show the artifact they produced, and capture the lesson in your playbooks.
 
This closes the loop between development and performance, and it sends a clear message: getting better is part of the job.
 
Stack these sprints across the year and you’ll have a portfolio of improvements that justify greater responsibility and better compensation while making the business smoother to run.
