When’s the Last Time You Updated Your Internal Operating System? |
If I pulled an old iPhone 4 out of a drawer and fired it up, I wouldn’t judge it for running iOS 6. That’s what it was built with. It’s not wrong. It’s just outdated. And what’s the first thing the phone would do? Prompt me to update. Do you want the new operating system? Yes. Obviously. I’d hit update. Wait 20 minutes, or maybe 20 hours if the phone’s slow, and eventually, the new OS would show up. Then I’d use it. Not because the phone suddenly got better hardware, but because the software changed. Now apply that to yourself. Most people are walking around with outdated beliefs, old programming, and an internal operating system that hasn’t been upgraded in years. Then they wonder why they’re stuck, frustrated, or constantly second-guessing themselves. But here’s the deal: just like that iPhone, your system can be updated. You can choose to install new beliefs, new patterns, new identity traits. You can evolve. But first, you’ve got to stop judging yourself for running on an old version. You were built with what you had at the time. That’s not wrong. That’s just history. And the moment you stop making yourself wrong for what was, you free yourself to build what’s next. That’s where I’m at right now. I feel like I live in the middle, between old programming that no longer serves me and new capabilities I haven’t fully integrated yet. I’m not broken. I’m upgrading. And yeah, I feel advanced in a lot of areas. I know I’ve done the work. But sometimes I forget how far I’ve come. Then I check the internal “software version” and realize, oh yeah, I’m not running on iOS 6 anymore. I’ve evolved. And my mantra reflects that. I am confident. I am fun. I am a contributor. It’s not fluff. It’s code. Code I chose to run. You can do the same. Want to talk about how to rewrite your internal software to match your future goals? Let’s upgrade your system. |
